Vanderbilt baseball is looking to win a regional title for the first time since 2021.

The Commodores (42-16) have qualified for 19 straight NCAA baseball regionals, an SEC record and the longest active streak in the country. But they have not advanced out of the regional round since their College World Series run in 2021, tied for the second-longest super regional drought in the SEC.

Vanderbilt is the No. 1 overall seed and will open up against No. 4 seed Wright State (38-19) The No. 2 seed in the bracket is Louisville (35-21) and the No. 3 seed is East Tennessee State (41-15).

The Nashville Regional is paired with the Hattiesburg Regional, hosted by Southern Miss. The winners of the two regionals will face off in super regionals.

Vanderbilt sat at 8-7 in SEC play halfway through the season but finished as one of the hottest teams in the country, winning four of its final five series to finish with a 19-11 record. The Commodores also won the SEC tournament, defeating Ole Miss in the championship game.

Vanderbilt baseball NCAA Tournament appearances

Vanderbilt has advanced to 19 straight NCAA regionals, last missing in 2005. In 2024, the Commodores set an SEC record by advancing to their 18th straight regional, surpassing LSU’s previous mark of 17.

Vanderbilt won the national championship in 2014 and 2019 and went to the College World Series in 2011, 2015 and 2021.

Vanderbilt baseball’s performance in SEC

Vanderbilt won six of its 10 SEC series overall. Most notably, the Commodores swept fellow regional host Georgia and won a road series against Tennessee. Vanderbilt also swept a road series against Florida and a home series against Kentucky and won a home series against Alabama to finish with a 19-11 regular season record.

The Commodores won the SEC tournament with a 3-2 victory over Ole Miss in the championship game.
