HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas — Texas Rangers are investigating after an inmate was found unresponsive and later died in Henderson County Jail.
Karl Dora, 42, was found unresponsive in his cell by other inmates on Jan. 25. Jail staff were notified, and he was transported to a hospital for treatment. Dora was pronounced dead on Jan. 30.
Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said the Texas Rangers have been notified and are conducting an investigation as part of standard procedure for an inmate death. Hillhouse said the cause of death appeared to be related to ongoing medical issues, but did not give any further details.
Dora was admitted into Henderson County Jail on Aug. 1, 2025. He was charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance. His family has been notified.
