Aumont, a native of Gatineau, Que., last pitched in affiliated baseball with the Detroit Tigers in 2018 and in the major leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2015.
He did, however, pitch for the Blue Jays as a non-roster invitee during spring training in 2020 and took the mound for Team Canada at the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
Coming off that 2023 performance, in which Aumont tossed three innings over two appearances for Canada, collecting four strikeouts and allowing one earned run, he is once again set to represent his country at the upcoming edition of the tournament.

Originally selected in the first round of the 2007 draft by the Seattle Mariners, the six-foot-seven righty went on to toss 43.2 MLB innings and carry a 6.80 ERA with the Phillies over four seasons.
After he was released by the Phillies in the middle of that 2015 campaign, Aumont signed a minor-league deal with the Blue Jays and ended the year in triple-A Buffalo after making five appearances.
He then lived the minor-league life for the next couple of years, spending time in the Chicago White Sox and Tigers organizations.
Aumont also pitched two seasons (2017 and 2019) with the independent league Ottawa Champions before inking a second MiLB deal with Toronto heading into 2020.
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the 2020 minor-league season, and Aumont retired in September of that year.
Now, he’ll get another shot at cracking the majors with the Blue Jays.
