New York Yankees rookie Jasson Dominguez made MLB history in May after finding form following a slow start to the 2025 season.
Dominguez was on the receiving end of heavy criticism to start this season as fans pushed to see more from the former top prospect. He hit just .228 through March and April with two home runs, 12 RBIs, and an OPS of .687 as he struggled for form for the Yankees, who hit 13 runs against Colorado on Saturday.
However, Dominguez has burst into life over the last few weeks. Since the start of May, Dominguez has hit three home runs in a game, homered from both sides of the plate in a game, hit a grand slam, and hit a stunning walk-off home run against the Texas Rangers.

According to OptaSTATS, Dominguez is the first player in MLB history to accomplish all four home run feats in the same month. Remarkably, the 22-year-old accomplished three of those four in the same game on May 9 against the Athletics.
In his second at-bat, Dominguez fired a 398-foot homer to right-center field while hitting from the left side of the plate. Then, in his fourth at-bat, the rookie switched it up and lined up on the right side of the plate; he crushed a home run 431 feet to left-center field.
The relentless Dominguez wasn’t done, though. In his very next at-bat with the bases loaded, he hit his third homer of the day to tally a grand slam.

Riding scintillating form, Dominguez completed all four and made MLB history against the Rangers on Wednesday. The Yankees trailed 3-1 entering the late innings of the game, but scored a run in each of the last three innings before Dominguez crushed a home run – his first career walk-off homer – to lead the Pinstripes to a 4-3 victory.
Dominguez has excelled across 15 games in May. The rookie outfielder is slashing .250/.362/.542 with four home runs, 10 RBIs, and an OPS of .904.
After announcing himself in 2023 when he struck four home runs in eight games, Dominguez was diagnosed with a torn UCL and underwent Tommy John surgery that ruled him out for a long time. Over the last two seasons, Dominguez has appeared in just 26 games.

Dominguez has recovered and established himself with the Yankees this season. New York manager Aaron Boone heaped praise on his young star following his walk-off homer against the Rangers.
“He’s just not affected by great results or a struggling day,” Boone said. “He just kind of puts a smile on his face and goes to work and likes playing the game with his teammates.
“He’s real easy and fun to be around because he’s got a good outlook on things. But you’re also really starting to see how good a talent [he is].
“You see him run, you saw the speed, you see the power, and he’s gotten some big hits for us, too.”
Dominguez’s 32-20 Yankees take on the 25-27 Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium in their next game on Monday, May 26.
