The Angels called him up in April, and Strickland went on to post a 3.31 ERA and throw 57 strikeouts across a career-high 73.1 innings.
Strickland signed with the Texas Rangers in free agency ahead of the 2025 season. But he ultimately returned to the Angels on a minor league deal in May. The 37-year-old accrued a 3.27 ERA and recorded 14 strikeouts in 22 innings in 2025.
Strickland’s 2025 season was cut short when he sustained a shoulder injury in July.

Strickland Will Compete for A Spot on the Opening Day Roster
The Angels already have 10 relievers in the bullpen after adding Kirby Yates, Drew Pomeranz, Jordan Romano, Jayvien Sandridge and Brent Suter to the roster this offseason.

Seven of those 10 relievers are right-handers. Strickland is also right-handed, so he will have to compete for a spot on the Angels’ Opening Day roster. He has not made an Opening Day roster since 2019 with the Seattle Mariners.
Strickland is going into the 12th season of his MLB career. He did not play during the 2023 season but was part of the Cincinnati Reds’ farm system before he was released in May of that season.
Strickland started his MLB career with the San Francisco Giants and won the World Series with the team in his rookie season in 2014. He’s also made appearances with the Mariners, Reds, Washington Nationals, New York Mets, Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers.
