The St. Louis Cardinals have acquired right-handed pitcher George Soriano in a trade with the Washington Nationals in exchange for right-hander Andre Granillo.Soriano, 26, has appeared in 72 Major League games over the past three seasons, primarily as a reliever with one start. He made a scoreless postseason appearance in the 2024 Wild Card round against Philadelphia and was on Miami’s Opening Day roster each of the past two seasons.
A native of San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic, Soriano owns a 3-1 career record with a 5.95 ERA. He has struck out 117 batters over 118 innings, converted three saves and recorded two holds. Opponents are batting .229 against him from the right side and .294 from the left. He has stranded 38.2 percent of inherited runners.
Originally signed by the Miami Marlins as an international free agent in 2015, Soriano was claimed off waivers three times this offseason by Baltimore, Atlanta and Washington.
Granillo, 25, made 14 appearances for St. Louis in 2025, going 1-0 with a 4.71 ERA and one save.
Soriano will report to Cardinals Major League Spring Training as a member of the 40-man roster.
