PHILADELPHIA – According to multiple reports, the Phillies have asked veteran outfielder Nick Castellanos not to report to spring training amidst a continued effort to trade him.
Castellanos is in entering the final year of a five-year, $100 million contract he signed in 2022. His relationship with manager Rob Thomson soured midway through the 2025 season after a benching that resulted in Castellanos questioning Thomson’s communication skills.
If Philadelphia is unable to arrange a trade, they are expected to release Castellanos in the coming days.
