One person is dead and 32 are injured after a bus carrying the Iowa Lakes Community College baseball team crashed on a north-central Iowa highway Wednesday morning, authorities say.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, all 33 passengers on the bus suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious. KCCI-TV in Des Moines reported that two were flown by air ambulance to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, which is located about 120 miles southeast of the crash site. Ten others were taken to Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, which is located about 30 miles east of the incident. None of the passengers’ names, including the person who died, has been released.

The bus was traveling south along Highway 4 when it went off the road, overturned in a ditch and flipped into a field around 11 a.m. CT, according to a release from the state patrol. No other vehicles were involved, authorities said. The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and Calhoun County authorities.

The team was heading to Harrison, Ark., to face North Arkansas College in a three-game series beginning Thursday. Iowa Lakes Community College’s baseball team competes in Estherville, which is located near the Minnesota border and about 70 miles north of the crash site.

Iowa Lakes Community College had played four games so far this year and was 1-3.
