The Red Sox and Brewers played a game so tight (in mediocrity) that it came down to a Connor Wong at-bat with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth inning with the Sox down 3-2… but our boys’ comeback attempt came up short when Wong flew out to right to end the thread and dreams of a Memorial Day that was not depressing, at least on this front.
The highlights were Jarren Duran’s continued excellence and Garrett Crochet’s performance. Yes, he gave up a homer on the first pitch. No, he doesn’t deserve to get hung out to dry like that. But sometimes it happens.
Three Studs
Garrett Crochet (after first pitch)
A leadoff home run by Jackson Chourio notwithstanding, it was a near-immaculate outing for Crochet, who ultimately gave up 2 ER over 6.2 IP with 11 K, which is a lot of strikeouts.
Jarren Duran
Put the Sox in a position to win and just continues to push the boundaries of what we can expect of him.
Rafael Devers
The lynchpin of the lineup scored the only run of the game after one of his two walks. He was one of two Sox players to get on base twice.
Three Duds
