COACH POLLOCK
Head coach Elton Pollock enters his 22nd season at the helm of the Blue Hose. In 2025, Coach Pollock guided a young roster through one of the toughest non-conference schedules to date, earning a key win over #23 Alabama, halting their undefeated season.

The 2024 season was one of the most successful years of baseball in the program’s history. Pollock led the Blue Hose to their first Big South regular season title with a 29-27 record and an 18-6 mark in the Big South, giving them the number one seed in the Big South Tournament for the first time ever.

After the regular season, Coach Pollock was given the title of Big South Head Coach of the Year, the first Presbyterian coach to receive the prestigious honor. Under Pollock’s leadership, Joel Dragoo was named Big South Player of the Year and Daniel Eagen was named Big South Pitcher of the Year.

BLUE HOSE NOTES
– PC finished last season with a 17-35 record and a 9-15 mark in the Big South. Five players earned CSC Academic All-District honors, while three received individual postseason recognition.

Matthew Rollison and Amman Dewberry highlight the returners for the Blue Hose offense from a year ago. Rollison was third on the team in hits in 2025, recording 48. He batted .291 and finished the year with a .355 on-base percentage. Amman Dewberry is PC’s returning home run leader, slugging eight homers last season. He led the team in RBIs (42) and was second in doubles (16).

Brody Linker also returns to the Blue Hose lineup. He tied for the team lead in triples and started in 47 games for PC.

– Off the bench from a year ago, Nick Smith, Andrew Albertus, Mikah Conner, Cam Mallo, Holden Baker, and Connor Bradly are back this season for Presbyterian. Albertus started in 19 games last season and hit .351 in Big South play. Smith and Conner made 38 and 33 appearances respectively for the Blue Hose.

– On the mound, Presbyterian returns five of the team’s top six from 2025 in innings pitched. Tyrell Williams and Tristan McGregor made a combined 21 starts for PC. McGregor led the team in strikeouts, posting 42. Robbie Boykins made 19 appearances primarily out of the pen for PC, recording 20 punchouts.

BACK FOR MORE
Tyrell Williams powers the Blue Hose on the mound, returning after a strong freshman campaign. He was named to the Big South Preseason All-Conference Team this season. Last year, he made the Big South All-Freshman Team, emerging as Presbyterian’s Friday night starter. In the Big South, he made 15 appearances, including seven starts, and posted a 3-2 record with a 4.53 ERA. In league play, he allowed just 26 earned runs over 51.2 innings, giving up only 52 hits (tied for the fewest among Big South pitchers). He held opponents to a .265 batting average, also among the top five in the league, and limited hitters to just three home runs all season, the fewest allowed by any qualifying pitcher in the conference.

INCOMING TRANSFERS
Head coach Elton Pollock added eight transfers to this year’s squad. James Green, Sammy Vander Hill, Caden Mason, Bauer Burkart, Emory Guilford, Ian Lindsay, Braiden Eagen, and Matthew Cannon are the new transfer additions for the Blue House

Mason played two seasons at Coastal Alabama CC South, totaling a .304 career batting average. He was named to the NJCAA 2nd-Team as a catcher in 2025. Green hit .317 and hit 21 home runs in two seasons playing at Louisburg CC. He was named 2nd Team All-Conference and 2nd Team All-Region at Louisburg.

Nine freshmen join the Blue Hose this season. Domaine Vann, Bo Moody, Tucker Meredith, Jonathan Williams, Cole Morgan, Landon Nichols, Nathan Sofield, Jayden Adams, and Aidan Taylor join Coach Pollock’s squad as incoming freshmen.

SCOUTING THE ZIPS
– This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.

– Akron opens its 2026 campaign against Presbyterian this weekend after finishing last year with a 20-34 record, including a 9-21 mark in the MAC.

– The Zips were picked to finish 10th in the league’s preseason poll.

– The Akron offense is led by Blake Bowen and Will Heisler. Bowen started 33 games last year and hit .279 for the Zips.
