For the Baltimore Orioles, the MLB offseason has been centered around their pursuit of bouncing back from a disappointing 2025 campaign. Just two years removed from a 101-win season, the Orioles picked up just 75 wins last season, finishing dead last in the AL East and missing the playoffs.
Baltimore has done its best to make improvements over the last few months. Most notably, they won the Pete Alonso sweepstakes and made a trade to acquire Taylor Ward from the Los Angeles Angels.
In the pitching department, new faces, Shane Baz and Chris Bassitt, are set to be factors in the rotation. Ryan Helsley was also brought in to give the bullpen some extra juice.
Still, if there’s one area where this roster is lacking, it’s the starting pitching. Baltimore has been unable to make up for the loss of Corbin Burnes, who left the O’s without an ace last season.
A frontline starter isn’t going to appear out of thin air, so if Baltimore wants another starting arm, the front office is going to have to get active.

Tyler Glasnow to the Orioles: MLB Trade Proposal
The Los Angeles Dodgers have an embarrassment of riches within their rotation. While Paul Skenes has established himself as the top starter in the NL, the Dodgers have multiple pitchers who could conceivably win the Cy Young this season.
At this point, it seems that if the Dodgers simply stay healthy, their pitchers will dominate all year long.
But is there a world in which they make an upgrade? Christopher Kline of FanSided has proposed a three-team trade where the Dodgers land Tarik Skubal, the Orioles receive Tyler Glasnow, and the Detroit Tigers end up with Emmet Sheehan and a trio of prospects.
“Detroit gets Emmet Sheehan, a few premium prospect bats, and financial freedom for its absurdly rich owner. Baltimore gets its desperately needed frontline ace, while the Dodgers add the best pitcher in baseball to the best team in baseball, because life is not fair,” wrote Kline.
Should The Orioles Make a Trade For Tyler Glasnow?
In this deal, the Orioles would be flipping one of their top prospects, Ike Irish, in exchange for Glasnow. Frankly, this seems like an incredibly easy decision.
Yes, the Orioles struggled last year, but we all know that this team, particularly the offense, is capable of big things. The front office’s approach to the offseason also indicates that they plan to contend in the immediate future.
If they’re going to make a run for a World Series in 2026, turning a 22-year-old who spent last season in Single-A into an All-Star pitcher would be a wise decision.
Glasnow has posted a sub-3.50 ERA in three consecutive seasons, hitting 120 innings pitched in two of those years. That sort of pitcher would immediately take the Orioles’ outlook on the mound up a level and could potentially help the rotation match the performance of the offense.
Glasnow comes along with a pricey contract, but that deal still features three years of team control, giving Baltimore a high-end option for years to come.
Altogether, if the Tigers and Dodgers are interested, the Orioles should be signing off on this trade.
