The Yankees completed a solid week on the schedule, going 5-1 since we last checked in, though there were plenty of close games including some against competition that they frankly should’ve dominated. They swept a mid-week series at home against the Rangers that featured a three-run rally in the seventh-ninth innings and a 1-0 nailbiter to complete the sweep, and then took two of three against the lowly Rockies with the last game coming via a one-run advantage as well. They did let some steam out after losing the opener by demolishing them 13-1, but that was more or less the expectation walking into Colorado and it only happened the one time.
It’s all water under the bridge now as New York sits six games up in the AL East on Memorial Day. They’ve seen some remarkable play from most of their roster, but some standouts have to be acknowledged. Will Max Fried coast his way to a Cy Young finish if he continues at the pace he’s on? Is Will Warren rounding into middle of the rotation form with this recent run? Is the offense slowing down or was this week just a bit of a lull? If you have questions like this, or anything else on your mind, send ‘em in for a chance to be featured in our Yankees mailbag.
Answers will run on Friday afternoon. All questions received by the night of May 29th will be considered. You can leave your submissions in the comment section below or by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
