The back-to-back World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers are set to officially begin spring training in less than a week, which means the front office is very busy in terms of roster transactions as the organization is bringing in several players to fill spots for Cactus League exhibitions.
On Thursday, it was reported by multiple outlets that the Dodgers are bringing in former Milwaukee Brewers infielder Keston Hiura on a non-roster invite, likely a minor league contract, which includes a chance to play with the Dodgers in spring camp. Once one of the Brewers’ top prospects. Hiura has had trouble finding his footing in the big leagues and will certainly have to prove himself further in the minors before getting another shot at the MLB level.

Dodgers Bringing in Keston Hiura to Spring Training
Keston Hiura will get a chance to prove to the Dodgers organization that he can still play this spring.
With the Colorado Rockies in 2025, Hiura hit .222 in eight games with seven strikeouts in 18 at-bats. In 2024, Hiura appeared in 10 games with the Angels, but hit just .148 with no extra-base hits.

Injuries limited his ability to stay on the field with the Milwaukee Brewers, but Hiura didn’t help himself out much when on the field by striking out way too much. In 938 at-bats with the Brewers, he struck out 380, and carried a .238 average with Milwaukee over four years.

What Chance Will Keston Hiura Get with the Dodgers?
Adding Keston Hiura will be a good depth piece for the Dodgers, but their current big league roster is going to be a bit logjammed come Opening Day.
Los Angeles brought back Evan Phillips and Kiké Hernandez in recent days, but for now, the Dodgers’ infield is pretty much set.
It would be hard for pretty much any MLB player to get big-league playing time on an infield with as many great players as the Dodgers. However, it is a long season, injuries happen to all 30 MLB teams, and maybe if Hiura hits well enough to start in the minors, he might be the first option the Dodgers call on to fill a spot temporarily.
2020 is when Keston Hiura got his real chance in MLB, as he appeared in 59 of the 60 games that season, but he led the NL with 80 strikeouts with 85 strikeouts, and hit just .212 with an OPS+ of 87.
