A deal was struck between the Minnesota Twins and the Los Angeles Dodgers, sending pitcher Anthony Banda to Minnesota.
The 32-year-old left-hander was acquired by the Twins in exchange for an unspecified amount of international bonus pool money given to the Dodgers.
Banda appeared in 71 games for Los Angeles and made one start during the 2025 campaign. Last season, he went 5-1 with a 3.18 ERA and recorded 34 walks, 61 strikeouts and a .197 opponent batting average.
Initially selected in the 10th round of the 2012 first-year player draft by the Dodgers, Banda has been a part of nine different major league seasons, including stints with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Tampa Bay Rays, the New York Mets, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Toronto Blue Jays, the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Twins designated right-handed pitcher Jackson Kowar for release or assignment. Kowar was claimed off waivers from the Seattle Mariners on February 3.
Besides Banda, the Twins have signed right-handed pitchers Lian Hendriks and Julian Merryweather to minor league contracts. Both have been given invitations to spring training.
