Another Texas Rangers player has missed out on a selection to Team USA for the World Baseball Classic.

Wyatt Langford was reportedly in the mix as a possible injury replacement for Arizona’s Corbin Carroll, who fractured the hamate bone in his hand at spring training, but Team USA has instead opted for Boston’s Roman Anthony, according to a report from the Boston Globe.

Anthony slashed .292/.396/.463 in 71 games as a rookie for the Red Sox last year while Langford slashed .241/.344/.431 in his second season with the Rangers.

Langford, Anthony, Steven Kwan, Tyler Soderstrom, Riley Greene, James Wood and Kyle Stowers were all under consideration to replace Carroll.

Langford joins Jack Leiter as a fellow Rangers youngster who missed out on a chance to suit up for Team USA. Leiter was wanted as a possible bullpen option for Team USA’s pitching staff, but issues with insurance seemed to prevent Leiter from being able to pitch for his country in the WBC.

As of now, four Rangers are slated to play in the WBC for their respective countries: Robert Garcia (Mexico), Alejandro Osuna (Mexico), Nabil Crismatt (Colombia) and Cal Quantrill (Canada).
