The Giants’ offseason work might not be finished just yet.
Chairman Greg Johnson told The San Francisco Chronicle’s Ron Kroichick that the Giants remain active in their pursuit of additional roster upgrades — particularly bullpen help — as the club continues shaping its pitching staff ahead of the 2026 season.
“We’re still looking,” Johnson told Kroichick. “We know you can never have enough arms in the bullpen.”
San Francisco already has made several notable additions under president of baseball operations Buster Posey, who is in his second offseason leading the club’s baseball decision-making.
Posey has pushed for the Giants to remain financially aggressive as he works to guide the team back to the postseason for the first time since 2021, when San Francisco won a franchise-record 107 games before falling to the rival Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL Division Series.
The Giants’ payroll currently sits around $227.1 million, placing the organization among the league’s higher spenders but still trailing several big-market clubs.
Johnson praised Posey’s persistence in seeking approval for roster investments.
“We haven’t had to say no to (Posey) yet, but we’re getting there,” Johnson told Kroichick.
The Giants already have added several notable pieces this winter, including outfielder Harrison Bader, second baseman Luis Arráez and right-handed starters Adrian Houser and Tyler Mahle.
But Johnson made clear the front office still is evaluating ways to strengthen the bullpen — particularly while competing in a division that includes the rival Los Angeles Dodgers.
“They’re aggressive and they have a good team,” Johnson told Kroichick. “But baseball is baseball. We can beat ’em.”
Whether further moves materialize or not, Johnson’s message was clear: the Giants believe they have the foundation to compete in 2026.
