Ben Rice in some hip-hop lyrics, just like you were expecting.

The New York Yankees‘ first baseman is shouted out in a new song by A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, “Red Light.”

The line goes like this: “22 in my pocket like Ben Rice.”

The rest of the lyrics are quite a bit more R-rated.

Still, though, what a cool honor for Rice. He just completed his first season as a full-time starter in the Bronx and proved his ability as a real slugger.

This season, Rice should play even more. Paul Goldschmidt will likely spell him against tough left-handed pitching, but otherwise, Rice will be the guy relied upon by Aaron Boone.

Rice is both the present and the future of first base for the Yankees.

Even that said, he likely won’t be in too many more hip-hop songs.

For those wondering, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie is from the Bronx. His given name is Julius Dubose.

The 30-year old has had multiple hit songs thanks to catchy melodies and real-life lyrics.

We’ll have to see if Rice gets a boost to his play this season from the song lyrics. He could also make it his walk-up song, if it’s cut and censored appropriately.

It’s certainly a great way to get Yankees fans fired up for the new season ahead. Even their lesser-known first baseman is getting quite popular.
