The Chicago Cubs saw their pitchers and catchers for Spring Training earlier this week. The process is now underway for determining which pitchers will make up their starting rotation and bullpen. Indeed, many pitchers have been brought in to compete for spots on the Opening Day roster.
Similarly, former Cubs pitchers are looking to get back to the Majors in 2026 with other teams. One of them, Rowan Wick, has recently agreed to a Major League contract for the first time in three years.

According to MLB Trade Rumors, Wick has signed a Major League contract with the San Francisco Giants. Wick previously pitched for the Cubs from 2019-2022.
The Giants themselves also announced the signing on social media:

Wick arrived in Chicago in the winter of 2018 when he was selected off of waivers from the San Diego Padres. In 2019, he went 2-0 with a 2.43 ERA in 31 appearances for the Cubs. He also recorded two saves.
The following year, 2020, saw him appear in 19 of Chicago’s 60 games (due to COVID) and went 0-1 with a 3.12 ERA. Unfortunately, his production declined in 2021 and 2022. Over the course of those two seasons, he appeared in 86 games and had a 4.24 ERA.
In July of 2023, he was released by the Cubs. After being signed and subsequently released by the Atlanta Braves that season, he joined the Toronto Blue Jays, but became a free agent at the end of the year without appearing in a Major League game.
Wick spent the last two years pitching in Japan, appearing in 101 games and posting a 2.21 ERA.
