FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton dropped the series finale against CBU Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field by a final score of 7-0. The Titans start the season with a 1-3 record.

The Titans and freshman pitcher Bobby Mahoney got off to a slow start, giving up three runs in the top of the first inning. Mahoney settled in after the first inning, shutting out the Lancers over the next three innings while only giving up one hit.

CBU added one run in the top of the fifth inning on a Titans error to extend its lead to 4-0. Fullerton’s defense didn’t play up to its standard, committing three errors leading to two unearned runs.

Fullerton had its opportunities to get back in the game with multiple innings with leadoff or one-out base runner, including a leadoff double by Paul Contreras in the fifth.

The Lancer would go on to score one run in the eighth and two in the ninth inning to take a 7-0 lead.

Fullerton will look to bounce back next weekend as the team heads to Stanford for its first road series of the season.
