Samford’s Marble Named SoCon Pitcher Of The Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior pitcher Andrew Marble was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week when the league released its weekly baseball awards Monday afternoon.
 
In his Samford debut, Marble pitched 5.1 innings, giving up no runs on one hit to earn the win in Saturday’s 10-1 victory over Belmont. He struck out four batters and allowed just one walk.
 
For the weekend, the Bulldogs won two-of-three games over Belmont. Samford took game one, 7-3, dropped game two, 14-4 and then won the third game by a score of 10-1.
 
Samford will next play host to Alabama on Tuesday, Feb. 17. The game is set for a 4 p.m. start from Joe Lee Griffin Field.
