North Alabama comes into the game after winning two of three games at home against SIU-Edwardsville. Jad Prachniak enters his fourth season as the head coach at UNA. His club was picked third in the ASUN Gold Division preseason poll. Petey Kraska is the team’s leading returning hitter. RHP Nico Varlotta is slated to make his first career start.

THINGS TO KNOW

– Head Coach Casey Dunn enters the game one win away from 100 wins at UAB. Dunn is the active leader in wins in the American Conference (632).

– UAB has won five straight games against North Alabama, including the last two in Florence.

John Paul Head enters the game on a 10-game on-base streak and an 8-game hit streak.

– In their first appearances for UAB, Riley Miller, Christian Helmers, and Carter Samuelson combined to throw 9.2 innings, nine strikeouts, allowed two earned runs, two walks, and recorded a .222 opponent batting average.

– On Monday, the American Conference office named RHP Riley Miller the Conference Pitcher of the Week after his performance on Friday night at No. 13 Florida. Miller tossed three scoreless innings and gave up one hit. 

– UAB stole six bases over the weekend at Florida. This marks the fourth time in five seasons the Blazers have stolen at least six bases on opening weekend.
