We are three weeks into the 2026 DII baseball season, which means nearly every team has played a game. Believe it or not, there are still 34 teams yet to throw a pitch or swing a bat. After this coming weekend, pending weather, every team will have finally played baseball.

That’s the grind of DII baseball. It is already the longest season, and the rolling start makes it hard to really get the big picture until March. While other polls and rankings began releasing their updated top 25s earlier, I like to wait until three weeks to even think about rankings of any sort, and even then, it is probably still too early.

Now, before we get into the field of 56 projections, my first DII baseball Power 10 rankings of the regular season dropped today at NCAA.com. Lenoir-Rhyne, Grand Valley State, Cal State Monterey Bay, West Florida, and Pittsburg State all made their 2026 debuts. Be sure to get caught up and see the entire rankings (for FREE) by clicking on the link below.

Now, onto the projections. If you missed the preseason field of 56, here is the breakdown of the 56 teams by regions:

Atlantic, 6

Central, 8

East, 6

Midwest, 8

South, 8

South Central, 6

Southeast, 8

West, 6

If you’ve been following along with the conference previews, you know I have spoken to a lot of coaches. There are still nowhere near the number of stats or selection metrics available to base the below projections on, and some of those numbers (like strength of schedule) are so skewed because of lack of competition. Will all 56 of these teams be right come May? Of course not, but let’s see how close we can get.
