The Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly claimed former Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski off waivers.

Pittsburgh designated Suwinski for assignment as a corresponding move to their one-year deal with Marcell Ozuna. The Pirates then placed him on waivers, and the Dodgers claimed him, according to FanSided MLB insider Robert Murray.

“Sources: The Dodgers have claimed Jack Suwinski off waivers from the Pirates,” Murray wrote on X.

The Pirates signed Suwinski to a one-year, $1.25 million deal this offseason to avoid arbitration, but the team opted to DFA him after signing Ozuna.

Suwinski’s best season came in 2023 when he hit .224 with 26 home runs and 74 RBIs. However, he struggled to replicate that success as in 2024, he hit .182 with nine home runs, and last season, he hit .147 with three home runs.

Meanwhile, with the Pirates’ additions of Ozuna, Ryan O’Hearn, Jake Mangum, and Jhostynxon Garcia, the path to playing time for Suwinski was blocked.

The 27-year-old will now join the Dodgers in hopes of cracking the Opening Day lineup of the back-to-back World Series champions.

As for the Pirates, Pittsburgh will open its 2026 MLB season on March 26 against the New York Mets.
