Jose Miranda is making his presence felt early in spring camp with the San Diego Padres.
It is a beautiful time of the year.
Uncertainty is all around when it comes to Major League Baseball.
Each franchise statistically has an opportunity as the season begins, and nobody truly knows how the 2026 season will end.

The San Diego Padres are no different, but there is a sense in San Diego that this is the year. The Padres are invested like no other time in franchise history. The goal is a World Series Championship. Anything else will be deemed a failure.
This winter, A.J. Preller and his staff did well to provide depth to the roster.
San Diego may have lost Robert Suarez and Dylan Cease to free agency, but the club replaced them with multiple veteran arms. They have also strengthened the bench area for the team. San Diego signed several players with major league experience.
Among them is right-handed hitting infielder Jose Miranda.
Miranda signed a minor league deal in early January with an invite to spring camp. He is a former top 100 prospect with the Twins.
In Minnesota, Miranda owned a career .719 OPS in a little over 1,000 at-bats. During the 2022 season, he put up a .268/.325/.426 batting line and a .751 OPS in 125 games with the Twins for his rookie year. Miranda slugged 15 homers and drove in 66 runs that year.
In 2024, Miranda put up a .763 OPS in 401 Major League at-bats. He played in 121 games and produced a 1.7 WAR. Miranda’s power dipped to only nine homers in that span, and his walk rate also decreased.
He struggled with injuries in 2023 and 2025, but looks to be healthy as the Padres enter spring camp.
Mirand started his spring season with a bang, homering in the first game.

The ball travels well off his bat. The 27-year-old could bounce back with the Padres if given an opportunity.
At this point, the roster is full. Miranda will need to continue to hit to make Padres management take notice.
He doubled on Saturday and went 3-for-3 in the game, four runs driven in. Miranda is now hitting .833 on the season in two games with an ungodly 2.524 OPS.

The bat is getting through the zone as Miranda continues to barrel up baseball.
The Padres require play like this from several men to truly enjoy a successful 2026 season.
Keep an eye on Miranda as the roster battles really begin to heat up in mid-March.
