The first in-season coaches’ poll for the 2026 college baseball season was released on February 23, after the conclusion of the second regular season weekend. The top remains relatively unchanged. However, there was significant movement outside the top six, particularly in the back half of the rankings.

Oklahoma has hummed along quite nicely. The Sooners had a great time in Arlington during opening weekend and then won three games against Coppin State with a combined score of 57-1.
Given those numbers, you’d expect the offense to be good — and it has. However, the pitching staff, led by the trio of LJ Mercurius, Cameron Johnson, and Cord Rager, has been among the best in Division 1 thus far.
Texas A&M dogged some scares against Penn, losing Chris Hacopian and Caden Sorrell to injuries, to move to 7-0.
Oregon State went 4-3 in the first two weeks of the year during what was a tough seven-game stretch. The Beavers went 3-1 in Week 1, highlighted by two wins against Michigan. However, OSU lost to Southern Miss and Purdue this past weekend in Round Rock.
Speaking of Southern Miss, the Golden Eagles vaulted Coastal Carolina after going 6-1. Southern Miss notched a big series victory over UC Santa Barbara in Week 1, then swept Baylor, OSU, and Purdue in Texas. Sophomore pitcher Camden Sunstrom struck out 16 over his first 9.2 IP, while senior Joey Urban hit .458 in the first two weeks.
As for some other notes, LSU won its three games in Jacksonville to move to 8-0. The Tigers have received some great early returns from Zach Yorke, who has three home runs on the season. Sophomore catcher Cade Arrambide also has three home runs.
UCLA swept TCU, which fell from #10 to #25, in the second weekend of the year. Roch Cholowsky, as expected, has been incredible, with six home runs already on the season. But so does Will Gasparino, who came over from Texas in the summer.
Junior pitcher Logan Reddemann struck out 16 over 10 innings to begin the year.
Texas, which swept Michigan State over the weekend, rounds out the top three. The Longhorns are 7-0, thanks to a deep offense that includes Ethan Mendoza and Aiden Robbins. Mendoza has a team-leading three home runs, while Robbins has two.
