The Stonehill College baseball team had a long bus ride north after a trip to Florida. The team went to Fort Myers on Thursday for a three-game series with Florida Gulf Coast, but the blizzard stranded them in the Sunshine State. They were supposed to fly home Sunday, but the flight was canceled. Players said they’re making the best of the situation. “It’s been a little bit of a roller coaster, but I want to shout out our coaches for keeping it smooth — and running everything smoothly. We practiced outside these past two days, got our work in to make sure we are ready for this weekend. The guys are loving it,” said captain Ryan Douglas. “We thought we’d have a little three-day trip down to Florida, but it’s kind of an early spring break for us, but we’ve been able to get outside on the field, which obviously we haven’t been able to do back home,” said captain Sam Parks. The team took a 20-hour bus ride to Virginia, where they have another game this weekend.
