Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs has taken plenty of criticism from Southern Californians after he disrespected Los Angeles Dodgers fans, but he’s not backing down.

Crow-Armstrong appeared on the “Foul Territory” show Wednesday to explain his criticism of Dodgers fans, emphasizing that it was the fans, not the players, that he took issue with.

He name-checked Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts as Dodgers he respects, saying they’re “the guys who’ve given these fans the reason to be fans.”

He then cited his own childhood experiences as his reasoning for disliking Dodgers fans. PCA grew up in Sherman Oaks and attended the Harvard-Westlake School.

“All fans fight and stuff, but I remember putting the Giants fan in a coma,” he said. “That stuck with me as a kid. Just little things, sitting in the stands, nasty stuff goes on that I didn’t always experience at other ballparks.”

Crow-Armstrong was recently on the cover of Chicago magazine, which said he let “it all hang out” in a Wayne Drehs profile published on Monday.

When asked about his time playing in Chicago, he praised the fans, but he did so by characterizing Dodgers supporters as uninterested in baseball.

“I love Chicago more and more. It’s just an incredible city. The people are great,” he said. “They give a s—. They aren’t just baseball fans who go to the game like Dodgers fans to take pictures or whatever. They are paying attention. They care.”

It’s worth noting that Crow-Armstrong may have grown up in Southern California, but he’s always been a Cubs fan.

His father, an Illinois native, actually prohibited his son from rooting for the Dodgers or Cubs rivals the St. Louis Cardinals.

“Growing up in L.A., my dad gave me a couple of rules. 1) I couldn’t root for the Dodgers. 2) I couldn’t root for the Cardinals,” PCA wrote in The Players’ Tribune last year.

Dodgers Fans Will Get a Chance to Respond in April

Supporters of the Boys in Blue won’t have to wait too long to give PCA a piece of their mind, as the Cubs are set to play at Dodger Stadium April 24-26.

Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain thinks the fans won’t miss that opportunity.

“Dodgers fans are going to show PCA they ‘give a sh*t,’” he wrote on social media.
