Time to stare in the mirror, I guess! I’ve been part of the Diamondbacks’ fanbase, more or less since I came out to Arizona in November 2000. Initially, casually, but then steadily more actively, opening up this site just before the 2005 season. Since then I’ve been through the highs of a National League pennant, and lows of a 111-loss season, watched both triumphs and disasters, and… Well, I’m still here, interacting with you folk every day. So I guess you must collectively have something! I’m proud to call multiple SnakePitters genuine friends, and while we may differ (vociferously!) sometimes, the love of the D-backs is a common thread which unites us. But…

How would you describe the D-backs fanbase?

What are our best and worst traits? How do we compare with other fanbases? The second question might be a little hard, because interaction with anyone else is limited. It’s largely online, and… Well, you know how that can often go! But feel free to engage in sweeping generalizations here: I’m sure nobody will take anything personally! For example, Arizona is a state full of people from elsewhere, rather than people who have been her all their lives. Does that make the fanbase more fickle? Or more realistic? Does the limited success (one playoff appearance every five years or so!) make us more grateful for it? How do you see yourselves?
