Three members of the Philadelphia Phillies’ infield were named among MLB’s best at first base, shortstop, and second base, respectively, according to ESPN’s Buster Olney.

Olney has been ranking the top 10 players at each position entering the 2026 season, and Bryce Harper and Trea Turner came in at No. 6 at their respective positions, while Bryson Stott was ranked No. 9 at second base.

Trea Turner’s Resurgence and Batting Title Success

Of Turner, Olney gave him high praise for changing his approach at the plate, which helped him win the National League batting title.

His 5.2 WAR was the second-best figure of his career, and he reached base with hits and walks 222 times, winning the NL batting title along the way.

The Harper Factor: Can the Former MVP Reach Elite Status Again?

Harper, 33, is out to prove he can still be an elite bat at the top of the Phillies lineup. While his numbers were solid last season, the team needs more from him to make a deep playoff run this season.

Well, his OPS+ last year was 129, meaning he was well above average, and in this era of dominant pitching, his on-base percentage of .357 ranked 26th among the 154 hitters who qualified for the batting title. Harper scored 72 runs in 132 games and accumulated 27 homers.

Bryson Stott and the Second Base Platoon Outlook

Stott, who platooned at second with Edmundo Sosa and will likely do the same again this season, is looking for a big year.

Stott will hit for some power and steal some bases (24 last season), but his struggles against lefties were acute last year: a .225/.287/.575 slash line, with one homer in 123 plate appearances.

Honorable Mentions: Bohm and Realmuto Narrowly Miss the Cut

Third baseman Alec Bohm and catcher J.T. Realmuto were both mentioned as honorable mentions.
