Orioles top prospect Samuel Basallo suffers injury during Spring Training

The Orioles had another injury scare on Thursday as catcher and top prospect Samuel Basallo left a spring training game with an injury. It doesn’t appear to be that serious and Orioles manager Craig Albernaz said it was a “precautionary injury” and told the media that Basallo could have stayed in the game. “That was me being the voice of reason,” Albernaz said when asked about Basallo.He was hurt while making a play at home plate on a relay throw from the outfield. He stretched out to make a tag on a runner when he appeared to hurt himself. He writhed in pain for a few moments before being removed from the game. They are calling the injury right-side abdominal discomfort and are hoping the catcher can return this weekend. It looks like the team may have avoided another major injury coming a week after the loss of Jordan Westburg and Jackson Holliday for the start of the season.
