The Philadelphia Sixers and Flyers are heading down the stretch of their 82 game schedules.  The Flyers have 24 games remaining, and the Sixers have 23 games left in the regular season.

The Flyers have faded in the standings and are currently ahead of the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils in the Metropolitan Division, plus eight points out of a wild card spot for the Eastern Conference side of the NHL playoffs.

The Sixers currently hold the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference at 33-26.  The Sixers are a hard team to figure out because when Embiid is in the lineup, the Sixers are a tough team to beat.  But can he stay healthy? That is the big question.

Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe are fun to watch, both are young, great players, but won’t be able to make a long run in the playoffs without Embiid consistently in the lineup.  Also. who knows what we’ll get out of Paul George when he returns from his suspension.

The Phillies got some good news yesterday when Phillies ace Zack Wheeler threw off the mound for the first time since having surgery to remove a blood clot and Thoracic outlet syndrome surgery on his right shoulder. Wheeler will not be ready to start the season, but he is on track to make his return to the field potentially in late April or early May.

Finally, the NFL scouting combine is underway in Indianapolis.  The combine is where future NFL hopefuls look to impress teams for the upcoming NFL draft. The Locker Room with Billy Schweim will cover it all this weekend.

On Saturday’s show, producer Nick Earnshaw and my intern Erin Ewing join me in the studio.  The Phillies are in Clearwater, and we will get our spring training report from Paul Lundholm, who is in Florida attending camp. Paul will call in from Clearwater with his spring training report live from sunny Florida.  The Flyers and Sixers are heading down the stretch to their regular season.  We will look at both teams with 24 games left before the Playoffs start. Then we’ll get our “High School Athletes in the Spotlight” with Fran Mclaughlin brought to you by the Philly Pretzel Factory.

On Sunday’s show, Producer Alex Berardis and my twin brother Bobby Schweim, plus my intern Erin Ewing join me in the studio.  We get another spring training report with Paul Lundholm from Clearwater Florida.  The Sixers have a big game in Boston against the Celtics Sunday night, and the Flyers host the hated Boston Bruins on Saturday afternoon. Wouldn’t a sweep be nice!  In Hour Two, Mr. Negadelphia P.J. Corda checks in brought to you by the Vassar Pool Service with his thoughts on the Sixers, Flyers, Phillies and Eagles.

All that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 97.3 FM ESPN radio South Jersey.
