KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WCYB) — College baseball Regional week has arrived – and a big one in the state of Tennessee.

To not much surprise, one of the 16 roads to Omaha in the College Baseball World Series will go through Knoxville and the defending national champion Vols.

After a strong finish to a tough schedule on the road to finish the regular season – paired with two big wins in the SEC Tournament – the Vols have their eyes on the next door to knock down en route back to Omaha.

This weekend the Vols aren’t looking to outsmart any team – instead just playing their brand of baseball and hopefully using their home crowd to their advantage.

Regardless of how we do it, we’re not looking to out-strategize anybody this time of year. Just look to out-compete people or to the best of our abilities and hopefully that gets us where we want,” said head coach, Tony Vitello. “And if it doesn’t, hopefully the fans can give us an edge that pushes us over the top because that’s been the case a few times this time of year when we’ve been fortunate enough to be in Knoxville.
