• No fourth at-bat for Griffin.

• Griffin pops out in the infield. Still in search of his first hit that’s not a homer. 

• Kelly strikes out two in a scoreless fourth. 

• Antwone Kelly takes over in the fourth. Barco didn’t allow a hit, walked two and struck out three. Threw 25 of 44 pitches for strikes. 

• HOME RUN: Garcia with his first homer of the spring. Clobbered it to left. A 2-0 inside slider after laying off two outside pitches. Pirates 5, Cardinals 0

• Barco gets a third inning and it was probably his best of the day. Fastball and slider both working for him there. Two strikeouts and a weak popout in foul territory. Should be it for him after three scoreless. 

• Barco up to 34 pitches over two innings. Started with a four-pitch walk and then gets a fly out and a double play. Command has been shaky, for sure, but he’s managed to work his way out of trouble. 

• Griffin grounds out in his second at-bat of the day. Sinker on the inside part of the plate. It’s those inside pitches that Griffin will have to make better contact on moving forward, especially once pitchers adjust to him more. 

• RUNS: Two-run single for Triolo. Two really good swings for him in this one. Pirates 4, Cardinals 0

• Didn’t mention it before but that Griffin homer followed a nice swing and a double the other way from Triolo. First pitch fastball on the outer third and he just went with it. 

• Barco throws 24 pitches — half of them for strikes — in the first. Mainly fastballs, but a few good sliders he generated some swing and miss with. 

• HOME RUN: Griffin does that thing again where he leaves the yard. Two-run shot over the wall in left-center field. Third of the spring. Sweeper at the top of the zone that Griffin didn’t miss. Hit it 408 feet with an exit velo of 107.8 mph. Pirates 2, Cardinals 0
