Spring training is well underway in the land of New York Yankees baseball. The club made few offensive changes in the offseason. Instead, they will rely on three offensive x-factors this season to push success.Â
The overall memory of the 2025 Yankees was the postseason, and not in a great light. The Bronx Bombers had an early send-off at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays.Â
Toronto’s offense was spoken for, despite the Yankees’ pitching being above satisfactory. The downfall lay in the Yankees’ offense. Their x-factors were not all present, and they could not figure out the Blue Jays pitching.Â
This thought still lingers in the back of the minds of Yankees supporters. How do we move past this? The understanding of who the offensive x-factors are, what their capabilities are, and what they need to do to keep the club afloat in the American League East.Â
2026 Yankees Offensive X-factors: Cody Bellinger
One of the best moves the Yankees made in the offseason was retain outfielder Cody Bellinger. The market was not hot for the Bronx Bombers; their pursuits were unsuccessful. Bellinger was the better fit, having played in New York.Â
Bellinger will be a clear x-factor this year for the Yankees. He’ll be one of the most depended on players, a middle-of-the-order bat. He’s from the left side and poses as a danger with runners on. Bellinger also possesses a powerful swing with gap-to-gap ability.Â
Situational hitting will be a key for the left-hander. His power will need to be consistent, looking upwards of 25 to 30 home runs. Additionally, he will need to strikeout less and offer more extra-base hits. His key is consistency over high impact.
Jazz Chisholm Jr.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. was a huge part of the Yankees’ 2025 season, posting one of his best offensive seasons. The infielder hit 31 home runs last season, slashing .242/.331/.481.Â
Chisholm hits from the left side, showing good power and pitch recognition. He’s an x-factor in a lot of his game. The left-handed hitter can hit home runs and work gap-to-gap.Â
Chisholm Jr can succeed with extra-base hits. He needs to get on base, where his speed becomes an important factor. The infielder stole 31 bases last year, consistently putting himself into scoring position.
The Yankees need him to be within the 30 home run range, matching or exceeding his slashes from 2025, as well as his stolen bases.
Aaron JudgeÂ
The captain, Aaron Judge, is the key to the Yankees’ offensive engine. His hitting is contagious and sets the tone for the rest of the offense. Judge took charge of his offensive capabilities in 2025, putting up very good numbers.Â
He slashed .331/.457/.688 in 2025 with a 1.145 OPS. Judge also won the AL MVP for his overall performance. Leading the league in walks, runs, OPS+, and WAR.Â
Judge needs to be a home run leader with high RBI expectations. He’s projected to have between 40 and 45 home runs. Last season, he hit 53 home runs. The slugger is also expected to have roughly 115 RBIs.Â
Success for Judge is essential for the success of the Yankees.
