Hey, it’s O’Reilly McGinnis here, take for Roundtable Sports.
On Sunday, Giants manager Tony Vitello was sitting in the dugout and watching his great pitcher, Logan Webb, go out there and throw pretty much a great spring training masterpiece.
He didn’t go nine innings, of course, or seven or eight.
He went three, but he was really strong in those three innings, and he helped submit the San Francisco Giants on a path en route to a nine-one win over the San Diego Padres in Cactus League play.
The Giants got contributions up and down the lineup to get runs in, and they were able to really take solid whacks at pitches delivered by the Padres’ pitchers on Sunday.
It was a solid outing for Webb and a solid outing for the Giants’ lineup up and down.
Now, the Giants are seven and three right now in Cactus League play, and they play the Chicago White Sox on Monday, followed by an exhibition game against Team USA on Tuesday.
Both of those games have a 3:05 PM Eastern Time first pitch time set up.
Webb went out and threw a pretty much a, a spring training gem, and Vitello just had to have been happy to see Webb get out there and really deliver well, on his pitches in his outing.
And he’s followed by other relievers that in the Giants’ pitching staff that came in and just totally dominated the Padres’ hitters.
It was a really great day for the Giants’ pitching staff and one that probably makes Tony Vitello smile a lot and maybe rest a little easier, at least for Sunday night after the Giants’ big victory over the Padres.
Again, both teams are in the National League West Division, so they’ll see each other a lot throughout the regular season.
But as far as this Cactus League game goes on Sunday, it was the Giants coming out on top nine-one, and Logan Webb was outstanding.
So Giants fans, that’s some good news on Sunday.
