DETROIT, Mich. (WILX) – According to a report from Front Office Sports, NBC will hire Tigers play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti to be the lead voice of the network’s coverage of Major League Baseball starting this spring.
Benetti is expected to call games as part of NBC’s ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ throughout the season as well as the opening night game on Thursday, March 26th between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks. You can see NBC’s full ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ schedule here. For those in Mid-Michigan, theses games will air on WILX-TV 10.

Front Office Sports also reports that Benetti will call other sports for NBC as he leaves his current gig with Fox. Benetti is also expected to keep his role as the Tigers’ play-by-play announcer.
Benetti came to the Tigers after spending 8 seasons calling games for the Chicago White Sox. Benetti will continue to lead the Tigers broadcast team which will now be featured on the newly announced Detroit Sportsnet, the new home for Tigers and Detroit Red Wings games in the future.
