Ilitch Sports + Entertainment unveiled Detroit SportsNet on Monday. The Tigers will air games this season. Red Wings switch happens during the 2026-27 campaign.
Fans can watch through cable packages, satellite providers, or in-market streaming options. Monthly streaming runs $19.99, while annual access costs $189.99. Sign up between March 2 and March 22? You’ll snag a free trial until April 1, which includes five games—Opening Day in San Diego on March 26 among them.
Tigers games stream through the MLB App on web, mobile, and connected TV platforms. How to watch Red Wings games through the subscription will be announced at a future date.
This launch follows both franchises terminating their deal with Main Street Sports Group, which runs FanDuel Sports Network stations. The group missed scheduled rights payments. MLB will provide broadcast support for both teams, though the Red Wings plan to handle most game productions internally.
“Given recent uncertainty throughout the regional sports broadcasting industry, we recognize the importance of providing fans with a consistent, year-round outlet to watch Tigers baseball and Red Wings hockey,” Ryan Gustafson, president and CEO of Ilitch Sports + Entertainment, said in a press release.
Red Wings coverage stays on FanDuel Sports Network through the end of the 2025-26 season. The team sits fifth in household rating and third in household viewership among the 25 U.S.-based NHL teams as of the Olympic Break.
All current broadcast teams remain. Jason Benetti and Dan Dickerson will handle Tigers play-by-play duties, with Andy Dirks and Dan Petry serving as analysts. Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond will continue calling Red Wings games—the duo was voted as the top NHL broadcast in back-to-back seasons in 2024-25, according to an annual fan survey by The Athletic.
The Tigers saw record-setting viewership during the 2025 season. Per-game streamers jumped 121%. Per-game household impressions climbed 101%. Only five U.S.-based teams had higher per-game viewership last season.
Discussions with cable and satellite distributors continue. A list of providers carrying the network and specific channel assignments will be shared once agreements are finalized. Detroit Pistons games won’t be part of the package.
