The Lodi High varsity softball team took a loss in its home opener on Tuesday, giving up 10 hits and committing six errors in a 12-2 loss to Elk Grove.
Lodi, which started the season at the Rainbow Fields Tournament in Modesto last week, now sports a 2-2-1 overall record with another home game against Manteca set for today.
Isabella Pantoja led Lodi’s offense with a 2-for-3 day, with a double and an RBI, while Ellie Schallberger had a triple and a run, and Allison Frank, Bailey Nelson and Abigail Schweigerdt each singled. Frank added a run, and Skye Abanathie had an RBI.
For Elk Grove (6-2), Kinslee Buck led the offense with two home runs, winifhing with three RBIs and three runs, while Madelyn Benzler went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs and Brooklyn Lundrum added three RBIs.
In the circle, Benzler pitched 2 2/3 innings of hitless relief, taking over for Buck, who allowed two runs in two innings.
