The Cincinnati Reds added to their bullpen on Wednesday, agreeing to a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates.The club announced Wednesday that it had acquired right-handed pitcher Kyle Nicolas from the Pirates, in exchange for infielder Tyler Callihan.Nicolas, 27, is from Massillon, Ohio, and was a second round pick out of Ball State in the 2020 MLB Draft.In three MLB seasons with Pittsburgh, Nicolas has appeared in 86 games, struck out 96 and pitched to a 4.68 ERA.Nicolas appeared in 31 games out of the Pirates’ bullpen in 2025, pitching to a 4.74 ERA with 34 strikeouts.Callihan, 25, played in four games with the Reds last season before suffering a gruesome forearm injury that ended his season in early May.In 24 games at Triple-A last season, Callihan hit .303/.410/.528 with four home runs, 12 RBIs and 19 runs scored, earning his brief call-up to Cincinnati.
