The Royals are making an addition this season to … their television broadcast team.
Bridget Howard, the daughter of former Royals infielder David Howard, will work as a host and sideline reporter for games, which will air on Royals.TV.
The broadcast crew from last season will return, too. Ryan Lefebvre and Jake Eisenberg will continue calling play-by-play, while Rex Hudler and Jeremy Guthrie will be back as analysts. Joel Goldberg and Jeff Montgomery will work the pregame and postgame shows.
“We know that Bridget’s professionalism and energy will only complement an already terrific broadcast team,” Royals president of business operations Cullen Maxey said in a news release. “She knows our fans because she grew up as one, and she knows Kansas City because she grew up here. Her storytelling talents will be a big help as we continue to grow connections through Royals.TV.”
Howard is a Blue Valley High School graduate who attended Kansas State University. She played soccer for the Wildcats and was a sideline reporter for K-State games.

The Royals said Howard also has been a play-by-play announcer for NWSL games and worked as a sideline reporter for TNT.
“Coming home to Kansas City to join the Royals broadcast team is truly a full-circle moment for me,” Howard said in a news release. “This is where the dream began, so the opportunity to represent my hometown team means more than I can put into words. I look forward to connecting with Royals fans and helping tell the stories that make this organization and this city so special.”
Howard’s first game will be Thursday night during the broadcast of the Royals-Rangers game.
