Murray has been offered a route into professional baseball.

This comes after he issued an emotional apology to Cardinals fans after being cut.

He is no stranger to the sport after playing baseball alongside college football.

Quarterback Murray had been considered a top prospect for the 2015 MLB Draft.

But he opted out as he played football and baseball for Texas A&M.

Murray then joined Oklahoma after a single season with the Aggies.

He was selected ninth overall by the then-Oakland Athletics in the 2018 MLB Draft.

But Murray remained in college for another season before being picked first overall by the Cardinals in the 2019 NFL Draft.

This made Murray the first player to be selected in the first rounds of both the NFL and MLB Drafts.

Yet the A’s are refusing to give up hope on recruiting the football star.

An avenue into the MLB has been offered by the A’s general manager David Forst, 49.

“Kyler is an elite NFL quarterback and I’m sure there are plenty of opportunities for him to continue his football career,” Forst said to MLB.com

“That said, he and his baseball representatives know that we’re always open to him exploring a return to baseball with the A’s if that time ever comes.”

A return to baseball is not impossible, however unlikely, as the A’s still hold Murray’s MLB rights.

Bo Jackson, 63, and Deion Sanders, 58, each previously played in both leagues.

However, Murray is expected to remain in the NFL after being linked with the Minnesota Vikings.

This comes as the Vikings consider JJ McCarthy‘s future with the team after his first season as a starter.

Free agents will be allowed to sign with rival NFL teams from 4pm ET on Wednesday, March 11.
