The Dodgers received a much needed series victory against the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday, as Shohei Ohtani smacked his league leading 20th home run of the season in Tuesday’s victory.

The reigning NL MVP has been off to an amazing start to his encore season, as his third home run over his last three games now give him 13 home runs in the month of May, with his 20 home runs before June being tied for the franchise record.

Max Muncy, who added a late game home run of his own in the ninth inning against Cleveland, spoke about the subtle jealousy he had for Ohtani for both his recent power surge and being able to tackle the 19 foot left field wall at Progressive Field, per Henry Palattela of MLB.com.

“There’s a bit of jealousy there,” Max Muncy said. “He does stuff that no normal human being can do.”

For Muncy, his home run on Tuesday was a huge boost after hitting just .192 with a .592 since his previous home run hit against the Athletics on May 15. His three-run shot as much needed insurance for the Dodgers, as it helped prevent a potential one-run situation when Cleveland scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Muncy spoke on his overall power drought this season, noting that his swing has been feeling great but just hadn’t been getting the power results he had hoped for before his home run, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times.

“My swings have been feeling really good lately, and just haven’t gotten the power results necessarily that I wanted,” Muncy said. “I’ve been getting hits. I’m hitting the ball hard. Just haven’t been getting it to go where I wanted to go. So that swing felt really good.”

Michael Conforto finally had his first home run hit since April 5, while tallying his first RBI since May 3. Tuesday’s performance could mark the beginning of a potential hot stretch for Conforto, all made possible with the extended leash that Dave Roberts has given him throughout his struggles at the plate, per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

“There’s a point, yeah,” Roberts said. “Production certainly warrants opportunity. I do feel his track record has given him a longer leash which he has earned.”
