The Cincinnati Reds made the postseason in 2025 because of its starting rotation. One of the key members of its rotation was Hunter Greene. During the 2025 MLB season, he pitched in 19 games. Greene had a 7-4 record with a 2.76 ERA.

In 107.2 innings pitched, Greene gave up 75 hits and 35 runs. He also walked 26 batters and struck out 132 batters. Greene also had a 0.94 WHIP. As the 2026 MLB season approaches, he should be one of the leading guys in the rotation. He is 26 years old and is about too entire the prime of his career.

However, there is a chance that his 2026 season could be in question with some elbow injury issues that have recently came up during spring training. What is the latest update with his elbow?

Charlie Goldsmith of FOX19 in Cincinnati, Ohio, wrote about the latest injury update to Greene in his latest Substack column. Goldsmith said, “Until the Cincinnati Reds get more information on what Hunter Greene is dealing with in his elbow, it’s too early to make any conclusions about what the injury means for Greene and what it could mean for the 2026 Reds. He’ll see two doctors over the next week and won’t throw until Tuesday at the earliest as he battles elbow discomfort as well as bone spurs that have been in his throwing arm.”

This is not good that he can’t throw until next week. Greene also revealed that he was dealing with elbow discomfort during the final month of the 2025 season. Also, during the offseason, he received an injection in his elbow. It will be interesting to see what else will happen with him before he can throw again.

Greene has missed some games in the past with other injuries. Hopefully, this is more precautionary reasons why he is not throwing rather than it being a serious injury that could potentially affect his entire 2026 MLB season.
