Major League Baseball returned to Southern Nevada this weekend as the Los Angeles Angels and Oakland Athletics faced off during Big League Weekend at Las Vegas Ballpark.

The Angels wasted little time putting pressure on the A’s offense, building an early lead and keeping the momentum going into the middle innings.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Angels strung together several hits to extend their lead. Zach Neto Teodosio got things started with a single to right field before advancing to second on a stolen base.

The rally continued when Logan O’Hoppe delivered a single to left, putting runners in scoring position. Moments later, Jo Adell ripped a double to left field, keeping the inning alive and setting up another scoring opportunity for Los Angeles.

With two outs, Nick Madrigal came through with an RBI single to left, allowing Teodosio to cross the plate and push the Angels’ lead to 3-0.

The Angels collected four hits in the inning as they continued to apply pressure on the Athletics pitching staff.

Big League Weekend gives Las Vegas fans a chance to see Major League talent up close as the Athletics continue preparing for their future move to Southern Nevada.

The two teams wrap up the exhibition series Sunday at Las Vegas Ballpark.
