Fox Sports sparked controversy online over a social media graphic announcing an Israel defeat in the World Baseball Classic.
On X, the network wrote on Monday: “Israel has been eliminated from WBC title contention after their loss to the Dominican Republic.”
The accompanying image featured the Israeli flag beneath the words: “ISRAEL ELIMINATED.”

Fox Sports used exactly the same format for other countries whose teams were knocked out of the competition.
But the Israel graphic went viral and has now garnered more than 10 million views on the Elon Musk-owned platform.

Some commenters, such as The New York Times’ Glenn Thrush, measuredly suggested it was “perhaps not an optimal graphic.”
Others pounced on the post to promote anti-Israel and anti-Semitic messaging and claim they thought, on first glance, that Iran, which is currently the subject of U.S.-Israeli strikes, had wiped Israel out.
