Key Points:
MLB The Show 26 early access is hours away, and the dev team revealed major live content changes
Several Diamond Dynasty modes are getting new features and structural updates
Here’s what players should know before jumping in at early access launch
It is that time. The snacks are being lined up, lineups are being overthought, and Diamond Dynasty grinders are about to start acting like sleep is optional. MLB The Show 26 early access begins at 9 p.m. PT on March 13 and 12 a.m. ET on March 14 for Digital Deluxe players, which means the annual tradition of saying “I’ll just play one game” is once again about to be exposed as a complete lie.

Early access is almost here
During the latest live content stream, the MLB The Show dev team laid out what is new and what is returning ahead of launch. This breakdown is based on the official MLB The Show 26 Live Content Feature Premiere from the dev team, which revealed major updates across Events, Battle Royale, and Ranked play.
What’s New in MLB The Show 26 Live ContentEvents now have time-limited programs
One of the biggest changes coming to MLB The Show 26 involves Events.
Previously, Events ran continuously with only a short gap between them. This year, SDS confirmed that Events will not always be active, meaning there may be periods where no Event is running.
The goal is to make Events feel more special when they appear.
Another major addition is that Events now have their own time-limited programs tied to them. These programs will feature rewards and at least one exclusive player item tied specifically to that Event.

The launch Event will be the WBC Moonshot Event, taking place at Tokyo Dome.
Players will be able to use any hitters against bronze or common pitchers, which should lead to plenty of home runs early in the game cycle.
The Event program will also feature a reward path, including Bryce Turang as the exclusive player reward.

Battle Royale draft rounds are curated
Battle Royale is also getting an adjustment this year.
While the first round of BR drafts will still feature some of the top diamonds in the game, the second and third rounds will now be curated by SDS.
At launch:
Round 2 will feature World Baseball Classic diamonds
Round 3 will feature Jolt Series cards
The idea is to allow players to test out new cards before unlocking them elsewhere in Diamond Dynasty.
Another big change involves the Flawless reward.
Instead of a player item, going flawless in Battle Royale will now grant a stub voucher, making BR one of the few places where players can directly grind for currency.

Multiplayer program is bigger than ever
The multiplayer program is also receiving a major upgrade.
According to the dev team, this will be the most rewarding multiplayer program ever released at launch.
The reward path includes:
Multiple World Baseball Classic packs
The Chase Pack will feature Julio Rodríguez as the first chase player of the year.
Unlike last year, the program will not be staggered at launch, meaning players can technically max it out immediately if they grind enough games.
Another new addition is chained hidden missions, which reveal the next mission only after completing the previous one. These missions are optional but add an extra layer of challenge.

What’s Returning in MLB The Show 26Ranked and Weekend Classic return
Ranked Seasons remain largely familiar.
The World Series rating stays at 800, a change introduced last year to make the milestone more attainable.
Players reaching 700 rating (Championship Series) will earn a player choice pack featuring:
Meanwhile, the World Series reward pack will include:
Another returning feature is the 1,000 rating pack, which offers alternate card art for the World Series reward players.
Weekend Classic is also returning after debuting last year. The mode runs over a four-day weekend where players compete in six games for rewards based on their win totals.
The first Weekend Classic will take place Friday, April 10.
Final thoughts before early access
It’s also worth noting that this was only Part 1 of the live content stream from the MLB The Show dev team. The presentation focused heavily on Diamond Dynasty multiplayer modes and some early launch content, but there is still more to come. Part 2 of the stream is scheduled for tomorrow, where the developers are expected to reveal additional programs, rewards, and more World Baseball Classic content ahead of the full launch.
The overall message from the dev team is clear: MLB The Show 26 is leaning heavily into launch content and player choice.
Events are being refreshed, Battle Royale rewards are changing, and the multiplayer program looks deeper than ever.
