Former Rangers pitcher Danny Coulombe has found his next step.

The left-handed reliever, who was acquired by Texas at last season’s trade deadline, signed a one-year deal with the Boston Red Sox, the team announced.

The Rangers brought Coulombe in to bolster their bullpen for their playoff push that ultimately fell short. The 36-year-old had mixed results in Texas last season. He had a 1.16 ERA in 40 appearances with the Twins, but had a 5.25 ERA in 15 appearances for the Rangers.

However, his ERA in Texas is a bit misleading, as he was largely effective for the Rangers. He allowed seven earned runs in his 15 appearances, but six of those runs came in two bumpy outings.

With Coulombe and several other pieces from last year’s bullpen off to new teams, the Rangers’ bullpen will look quite different. It’s still a work in progress, as Texas continued to add with the signing of LHP Jalen Beeks to a one-year deal on Thursday.
