The Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants played a rare set of split squad games when they faced off against each other in both games. The game in Scottsdale that was hosted by the Giants ended with the Reds winning 6-1 and a bunch of that six came as a result of the work done by the Reds prospects.

Only one player for Cincinnati had multiple hits in that game and it was #4 prospect Tyson Lewis. He went 2-3 on the day, drove in a run, and one of his hits was a double. Rafhlmil Torres only had one at-bat on the night but he made it count as he tripled, drove in a run, and then later scored a run. Hansel Jimenez went 1-1 with an RBI, though he was thrown out trying to turn a single into a double.

Shane Sasaki, Yerlin Confidan, Michael Trautwein, and Carlos Sanchez  all went 1-2. Sanchez would score a run along with his single and Sasaki’s one hit was a double. On the mound it was Hagen Danner showing off as he threw a perfect inning that saw him strike out all three hitters he faced.

Later on in the night the game in Goodyear got underway and the Reds won that game 1-0. The only run came in the 1st inning of the game on the only hit of the game for Cincinnati. Who was that batter? None of than Reds #2 prospect Sal Stewart, who singled in Elly De La Cruz to give his club a lead that they never relinquished.

That lead held up because the Reds pitching was outstanding on the night. The final two innings of the game went to #24 prospect Zach Maxwell and Hunter Parks. Maxwell allowed a hit and recorded a strikeout in the 8th inning. Parks came out and recorded a perfect inning for the save, needing just nine pitches to get through the inning to seal the win.
