OSKALOOSA — Laila Smith tried to have her sister’s back throughout William Penn’s first four home softball games of the season.
Tori Smith responded with a dominant effort in the pitching circle on Saturday in the third of the four games for the Statesmen. The junior twins from Washington did their part throughout the weekend to help William Penn post a winning homestand with a four-hit complete-game shutout lifting the Statesmen to a 3-0 win over Peru State in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday, opening a doubleheader sweep of the Bobcats.
