The 2026 MLB regular season begins on March 25th. Last season had many storylines, with tenured and rookie players having electric seasons. Baseball is the greatest sport in the world, and the upcoming season won’t disappoint. With a week and a half before the 2026 MLB season begins, here are the top five second basemen rankings.

Altuve has made a career out of consistency. His slash line has fallen off over the past few years, but he’s still one of the top MLB second basemen. The Astros are ready to get back to the playoffs after missing the postseason for the first time since 2016, and Jose Altuve should once again be one of the team’s best offensive producers.

4. Brandon Lowe, Pittsburgh Pirates

Since his breakout season in 2021, Lowe has battled several injuries. Last season, Lowe played in the second-most games of his career, reaching 30+ home runs and 80+ home runs for a second time. He joins a Pirates team that hopes their offseason moves will lead to a playoff appearance soon.

3. Brice Turang, Milwaukee Brewers

Turang made his first All-Star appearance after having the best season of his three-year career. He set career highs in home runs (18), RBI (81), and at-bats (584). 2026 will be a big year for the second baseman, who has improved his production in each of his first three seasons.

2. Jazz Chisholm, New York Yankees

If it weren’t for dealing with injuries each season, Chisholm would be the best second baseman in the game. In his first full season with the Yankees, Chisholm reached career highs in home runs (31), RBI (80), and OPS (.813). If he’s healthy, Chisholm can end the season as the top MLB second baseman.

1. Ketel Marte, Arizona Diamondbacks

Marte’s production regressed after his monster 2024 season. However, the Diamondbacks dealt with injury blows throughout the season, derailing their playoff hopes. The second baseman persevered and reached 28 home runs and 78 RBI.
